Anna Lao is the most successful badminton player in the history of Australian Badminton.

She dominated the National scene,  holding the titles of:

  • Australian Open Champion 1988 - Ladies Singles
  • Australian Open Triple Champion 1989
    • Ladies Singles; Ladies Doubles; Mixed Doubles
  • Australian Open Triple Champion 1991
    • Ladies Singles; Ladies Doubles; Mixed Doubles
    • 3 rd in Doubles at Malaysian Open 1989
    • New Zealand Open Triple Champion 1991
  • French Open Double Champion 1992
    • 3 rd in Doubles at Swedish Open 1992

After this Anna competed in the 1992 Barcelona Olympics:

  • Placing 5th in Ladies Singles & Doubles, a feat unrivaled both past and by all Australian Badminton Olympians.
  • Badminton Australia National Level Coach from 2000 - present
  • Member of Badminton Australia Coaching Panel in 2010-2014
  • Founder/Principal of Australian Badminton Academy (Established in 2002).
    • Developed Coaching Couse
  • Developed over 100 state players representing NSWBA.
    • Developed over 100 coaches.
    • Trained over 100 elite players who have played International Competitions.
    • Developed Australian Olympian 2008 Olympic
    • Developed National Under 19 Ladies triple champion 2002
    • Developed National Under 17 Men triple champion 2006
    • Developed National Under 15 Ladies singles and doubles champion 2012
    • Developed National Under 17 Ladies doubles champion and Ladies single Runner up 2018

  • Leading World Chinese Badminton Federation Australia Division Veterans team participate for the international events from 2010 to present, win a lot of medals
  • Member, organisation of the Australian Open from 2012 to present.

  • 1997- 2001 coaching Macquarie Uni badminton club (one-year National champion in Uni game)
  • 1998- 2001 coaching UTS badminton club (one-year National champion in Uni game)
  • 1997 Coaching NSW Badminton Open team training and participate in the National badminton open
  • 2010 Coaching NSW Badminton Junior Under 15 team training and participate in the National badminton open
  • 2011 Coaching National Junior badminton team participate in the Oceania Junior championship.

  • Committee Member, Australian Guangxi Friendship Association, since 2015.
  • Former Committee Member, Eastwood Chinese Senior Citizens Club.

  • 2012 World Morning Cup 50 -54 age Mix–double Champion, Double 3rd.
  • 2013 World Morning Cup 50 -54 age Mix–double Champion, Double 3rd.
  • 2013 WCBF 20th Anniversary Individual Events 50-54 age Mix-double  Champion, Ladies Double 3rd.

With many years of experience, Anna now strives to create the next generation of Olympians in Australia.
